Meet Darryl: Rooted in Community. Driven by Care.

Since 2008, Darryl Campbell has called Blacksburg home, initially as a Virginia Tech student, and later as a neighbor, mentor, and community builder.

The son of hardworking Jamaican migrants, he's completed his undergraduate degree in Psychology and a Master's degree in Natural Resources with a certificate in Leadership in Global Sustainability. Working at VT on contracts and negotiations to secure funding from federal, state, and foundation sources, he's a strong supporter of pushing for viable research opportunities and grant benefits for the region.

As an active advocate for workers rights, he sits on the United Campus Workers-VT Steering Committee and chairs UCW-Virginia’s Local Elections Committee.

For about a decade, he's hosted weekly events at a local restaurant that bring together students and neighbors, while also supporting the Blacksburg Young Professionals' goals of engaging and providing a network for new talent in the town of Blacksburg.

His campaign focuses on grassroots service, with a focus on affordable housing, small-business vitality, and a transparent, accessible town government.
